INDIA PACING FAST TO BECOME THE FOREMOST STARTUP NATION : CM SAWANT
Panaji : The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, marked its 43rd Foundation Day with a grand celebration at the Institute’s auditorium today. Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, addressed the event virtually and lauded the contributions of EDII in nurturing India’s entrepreneurial landscape.
A high-level delegation of 16 officials from the Government of Goa, led by Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary of Industries, attended the event in person as part of a visit to EDII to explore strategies for enhancing entrepreneurship in Goa. Shri Anchipaka also served as the Guest of Honour at the programme.
Prominent dignitaries present at the event included Dr. Piruz Khambatta, Chairman of Rasna Group and Honorary Consul General of South Korea (Gujarat); Shri Dinesh Singh Rawat, Chief General Manager & Zonal Head (Ahmedabad Zone), IDBI Bank and Governing Board Member, EDII; Shri B. S. Pai Angle, Managing Director of EDC Ltd. Goa; Shri Sunil Shukla, Director General of EDII; along with senior EDII officials Shri Satya Acharya and Shri Raman Gujral.
In his address, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant congratulated EDII on its remarkable journey and praised Gujarat’s exemplary growth model. He credited EDII for playing a vital role in nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit not only in India but also internationally. “India is progressing rapidly toward becoming the foremost startup nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and EDII has significantly contributed to this journey,” Dr. Sawant said.
Highlighting Goa’s potential, the Chief Minister noted, “Goa has the right environment with people eager to learn, strong policy support, attractive investment opportunities, and excellent infrastructure. The EDII-Goa Centre, in collaboration with EDC Ltd., is empowering emerging entrepreneurs, strengthening MSMEs, and promoting entrepreneurship education and rural development in the state.”
Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, echoed the Chief Minister’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between Goa and EDII. He lauded EDII’s success in building entrepreneurial capacity across urban and rural India and stressed the need for Goa to integrate these practices for inclusive development. “With its vibrant culture and creativity, Goa is fast emerging as a progressive and business-friendly state,” he stated.
Dr. Piruz Khambatta emphasized that entrepreneurship is a cornerstone of Viksit Bharat’s vision and a key driver of socio-economic growth. He applauded EDII for its foresight in promoting skill development, innovation, and market expansion.
Director General Shri Sunil Shukla expressed gratitude to Dr. Sawant for his continued support and highlighted the journey and impact of EDII. Shri Dinesh Singh Rawat also shared insights during the event.
The EDII-Goa Centre continues to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation and enterprise across various sectors, helping the youth transform creative ideas into sustainable businesses and promoting entrepreneurship as a preferred career path.
