Call for Unity at ‘Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan’ Rally in Panaji
Panaji : In a strong-worded address at the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Abhiyan’ rally held at Azad Maidan, Panaji, speakers called upon the vigilant people of Goa to unite in defense of the Constitution and to defeat what they termed as the divisive politics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The event, organized to safeguard constitutional values and communal harmony, saw sharp criticism of the BJP-led government at the Centre and in Goa. Speakers alleged that the BJP is systematically attempting to divide citizens along religious lines and suppress constitutional rights, particularly those of minority communities.
“Our Constitution, given to us by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, guarantees us rights and unity. It is now our duty to protect both,” said a speaker, addressing the gathered crowd.
The rally also highlighted issues such as land scams, environmental degradation, lack of employment, and the government’s failure to protect the Mhadei river. “Goa is being sold off under the guise of development. Our lands are being grabbed by outsiders through land conversion scams,” a speaker alleged, citing concerns about increasing loss of Goan identity and resources.
The BJP government, they claimed, has failed on all fronts — from law and order to job creation — and is driven by commissions and crony capitalism. “This government is no longer of the people, but of a few capitalists. The time has come to show them the door,” one leader urged.
Comparing governance styles, Congress leaders stated that unlike BJP, their party never imposed projects against public will. “We scrapped SEZs when people opposed them. That is our commitment to democracy,” they said.
The rally concluded with a collective call to voters to uphold constitutional values, protect communal harmony, and choose governance that respects people’s voice and unity.
