Goa Holds First State Level Committee Meeting on Standardization
Porvorim : The inaugural meeting of the State Level Committee on Standardization (SLCS) for Goa was held in Porvorim under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS. The meeting was organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in collaboration with the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Goa.
The discussions centered around the integration of Indian standards into state-level policies, promotion of ISI-marked products, and the overall strengthening of the quality and standardization ecosystem in the state. The aim is to enhance consumer protection, ensure quality compliance, and facilitate industry alignment with national benchmarks.
Key dignitaries present at the meeting included Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, Secretary, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs; Shri Praveen Khanna, Deputy Director General, BIS Southern Regional Office; Shri G. Venkatanarayanan, Director, Southern Regional Office; Shri P. N. Murali, Director & Head, BIS Hubli Branch Office; and Shri Dipak Bandekar, Director of Information and Publicity, among other members of the committee.
The meeting marked a significant step in promoting standardization as a tool for sustainable development and quality assurance in Goa.
