MLA Alton D’Costa Inaugurates First Bandara Project at V.P. Morpirla
Quepem: In a significant step towards sustainable water management and agricultural support, construction work for the first Bandara at V.P. Morpirla has officially commenced under the Watershed Development Program. The inauguration was held in the presence of local leaders and officials, including Morpirla Panchayat Sarpanch Ashwini Gaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch Prakash Velip, Panch Member Nitesh Velip, and Zonal Agriculture Officer Kritiraj Naik Gaonkar from the Quepem Zonal Agriculture Department, along with other dignitaries.
This project marks the beginning of Bandara development in the region, aimed at improving irrigation and benefiting the farming community. The initiative has been made possible through the tireless efforts of the Watershed Development team and the wholehearted cooperation of local landowners, who generously provided the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) required for the construction.
Speaking at the event, MLA Alton D’Costa expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders and emphasized the importance of water conservation for agricultural progress. He further announced that multiple sites across the constituency have been identified and surveyed for similar Bandara projects, with construction expected to begin soon.
The project reflects a collective commitment to rural development, environmental sustainability, and empowerment of the agrarian sector.
