CM Reviews Monsoon Readiness, Approves Funds & Key Directives

Panaji : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a crucial meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority at Mantralaya to assess and enhance monsoon preparedness across Goa. The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Shri Atanasio Monserrate, Chief Secretary, and senior officials from key departments including PWD, Electricity, WRD, Fire & Emergency Services, Health, and representatives of the Indian Navy.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister issued key directives to ensure swift and coordinated response to any challenges during the monsoon season:

Nodal Officers Appointed: All departments have been instructed to appoint dedicated nodal officers to promptly address any queries or issues arising during the monsoon period.

Financial Aid Approved:

Rs. 35,000 sanctioned for each Village Panchayat

Rs. 60,000 for B Category Municipalities

Rs. 1,10,000 for A Category Municipalities

The funds are to be used for immediate pre-monsoon works to strengthen grassroots readiness.

Action on Dangerous Structures: The PWD has been directed to identify dilapidated and dangerous buildings and take prompt action, including demolition, to avoid any risk to life and property.

River Desilting Drive: The WRD has been tasked with carrying out river desilting activities to reduce the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

Collectorate Vigilance: District Collectors have been instructed to remain vigilant and establish robust systems to respond effectively to any unforeseen situations.

CM Sawant reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to maintaining public safety, infrastructure stability, and smooth functioning of civic life during the monsoon, ensuring minimum disruption across the state.

“The Government of Goa is fully committed to ensuring ease and normality for citizens during the monsoon season through timely planning, coordination, and execution,” stated the Chief Minister.
