Drishti Marine Lifesaver Averts Tragedy at Dudhsagar; Multiple Rescues Reported Along Goa Coastline
Panaji : A 44-year-old tourist from Gujarat narrowly escaped a tragic end at the iconic Dudhsagar waterfalls over the weekend, thanks to the swift intervention of a Drishti Marine lifesaver. The incident was one of several across Goa where trained lifesavers played a crucial role in ensuring public safety.
Dudhsagar Waterfalls Rescue:
The tourist, engrossed in taking photographs, accidentally slipped and fell into the deep pool beneath the Dudhsagar falls. Lifesaver Shahnawaj Nadaf, stationed at the site, sprang into action without hesitation. Armed with an inflatable rescue tube, Nadaf dove into the water and managed to pull the struggling man to safety. Dudhsagar, a popular tourist attraction apart from Goa’s beaches, is also manned by Drishti Marine lifesavers to ensure visitor safety.
Hollant Beach – Injury Managed with First Aid:
At Hollant beach in South Goa, a young girl from Bogmalo injured her foot after stepping on a piece of glass during a family outing. An alert lifesaver on duty provided immediate first aid, after which the child was taken to the nearest medical facility by her family.
Palolem Beach – Medical Emergency Averted:
In another incident, a 23-year-old man from Bengaluru experienced epileptic seizures while walking along Palolem beach. A patrolling lifesaver rushed to the scene, placed the individual in a recovery position, and monitored him until he regained consciousness. The man was later handed over to the care of the 108 emergency medical services team.
Colva Beach – Missing Child Reunited:
A heartwarming rescue unfolded at Colva beach, where a four-year-old boy was found wandering alone by a visitor and handed over to a Drishti Marine lifesaver. A 15-minute coordinated search, including public announcements via the lifesavers’ PA system, successfully located the boy’s parents. The child was safely reunited with his family after standard identification checks.
Drishti Marine continues to play a vital role in ensuring safety across Goa’s beaches and tourist hotspots, with trained lifesavers responding promptly to emergencies and providing critical assistance.
