Vice-President of India Visits Goa; Dedicates Key Projects and Interacts with Officials
Dabolim, Goa, May 20: The Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, accompanied by his spouse, Dr. (Smt.) Sudesh Dhankhar, arrived in Goa today for an official visit. They were warmly received at INS Hansa, Dabolim by the Hon’ble Governor of Goa, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant.
As part of his itinerary, the Vice-President will visit Mormugao Port, where he will dedicate newly developed port projects to the nation and engage with senior officers and staff of the Mormugao Port Authority. He will also interact with senior officials of the Indian Coast Guard aboard a Coast Guard vessel stationed at the port.
Continuing his engagements, Shri Dhankhar will visit the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), where he will hold discussions with faculty members and scientists regarding advancements in coastal agriculture and research.
A significant cultural highlight of the Vice-President’s visit will be at Raj Bhavan, Goa, where he is scheduled to commission statues of the ancient Indian medical pioneers, Charaka and Sushruta. This event commemorates their invaluable contributions to the fields of Ayurveda and Surgery.
Among the dignitaries present to welcome the Vice-President at the airport were Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri Shripad Naik, Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Shri Ramesh Tawadkar, Protocol Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho, Leader of the Opposition Shri Yuri Alemao, MP (Rajya Sabha) Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, MP (Lok Sabha – South Goa) Capt. Viriato Fernandes, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, Secretary (Protocol) Shri Prasad Lolyenkar, IAS, and Collector & District Magistrate of South Goa, Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, along with other senior officials.
