CM Pramod Sawant Lauds Launch of ‘Cardozo Mankurad’ , Goa’s Pride Mango Variety
Panaji : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant expressed delight on receiving the newly launched ‘Cardozo Mankurad’ — a premium variety of the beloved Mankurad mango, known as the pride of Goa. Developed by the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, this special farmers’ variety marks a significant milestone in the state’s agricultural advancement.
The ‘Cardozo Mankurad’ has been officially released by the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) and approved by the Central Variety Release Committee (CVRC), New Delhi.
Applauding the achievement, the Chief Minister said, “The variety stands out for its larger fruit size, absence of spongy tissue, and consistent bearing habit. This is a commendable example of how scientific research can enhance the value of traditional crops and empower our farmers.”
Dr. Sawant congratulated the entire team at ICAR-CCARI and extended his best wishes to mango producers across the state, hoping for continued success and prosperity.
The ‘Cardozo Mankurad’ is expected to further elevate the reputation of Goan mangoes in national and international markets, promoting both agricultural innovation and farmer welfare.
