CM Pramod Sawant Inaugurates Solar Power Systems in 7 Government Schools Across Goa

Panaji, Goa: In a major step towards sustainable development and clean energy adoption, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated solar power systems installed in seven government schools across Goa. The installations were carried out under the CSR initiative of NetApp, in collaboration with BharatCares, as part of the “Shine On – Embracing Solar Energy for Our Schools” campaign.

This innovative project exemplifies the successful integration of sustainability, technology, and education. With a combined solar capacity of 62.5 kW, the systems are expected to generate approximately 1.1 lakh units of clean energy annually. This transition to solar power is projected to reduce electricity bills by up to 75%, offering significant cost savings to the schools.

More importantly, the project contributes substantially to environmental conservation, with an estimated 95 metric tonnes of carbon emissions to be reduced each year. Over 3,000 students are set to directly benefit from the enhanced energy infrastructure, ensuring an uninterrupted and eco-friendly learning environment.

Expressing his appreciation, CM Sawant said, “This initiative is a powerful example of how sustainability, innovation, and education can come together to empower our children and protect our environment. My gratitude to NetApp and BharatCares for partnering in this mission to build a greener, smarter, and stronger Goa. Together, we are creating a brighter future for our students.”

The project not only enhances infrastructure in educational institutions but also instills a culture of environmental responsibility among young minds — paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable Goa.
