CM Pramod Sawant Lays Foundation Stone for 300 KLPD Ethanol Plant at Navelim

Navelim, Goa: In a major step towards promoting clean energy and boosting rural development, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for a 300 KLPD grain-based Ethanol Plant being set up by Centreal Biofuels Limited at the Navelim Industrial Area.

The ethanol production facility, designed to operate on grain-based feedstock, will supply ethanol to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) under the Government of India’s Ethanol Blending Programme (EBP). This national initiative aims to promote the use of cleaner fuels and reduce the country’s dependency on fossil fuels.

Speaking at the ceremony, CM Sawant highlighted the plant’s multiple benefits for Goa’s socio-economic landscape. “This project is a significant milestone in our efforts to promote sustainable industrial growth. It will not only generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities for locals but will also empower our farming community by sourcing grains directly from them,” he said.

The initiative is also a model of sustainability. With a Zero-Waste design, the plant will repurpose by-products like distillers grains into nutritious animal feed, promoting environmentally responsible industrial practices.

Dr. Sawant commended Centreal Biofuels for its forward-thinking investment and commitment to Goa’s development. “I congratulate Centreal Biofuels for playing a proactive role in Goa’s socio-economic upliftment through industrial investment, rural empowerment, and environmental stewardship,” he added.

The plant is expected to serve as a catalyst for industrial growth, rural prosperity, and green energy adoption in the state.
