Waqf Board Representatives Applaud MoMA’s Launch of Central Waqf Portal at National Training Workshop in Delhi

New Delhi: Representatives from Waqf Boards across the country have hailed the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) for its pioneering initiative in developing a state-of-the-art Central Waqf Portal, aimed at revolutionizing Waqf property management through digital transformation.

At a two-day national training workshop held from 26th to 27th May 2025 at SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, over 141 participants, including officials from State and UT Waqf Boards, IT teams, and other stakeholders, came together to gain insights into the new digital platform. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The Central Waqf Portal, developed under the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, is envisioned as a centralized digital repository of all Waqf properties in India. The platform will feature a robust three-tier verification and security system based on the Maker-Checker-Approver model. Under this mechanism:

The Mutawalli (caretaker) enters the property details as the Maker,

A Waqf Board official validates the data as the Checker, and

A designated government authority finalizes the record as the Approver.

This systematic approach aims to eliminate discrepancies and bring unprecedented levels of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in Waqf property registration and monitoring.

Participants in the workshop especially appreciated the hands-on training sessions, which provided real-time interaction with the portal. The Master Trainers, who will further train officials in their respective states, praised the user-friendly interface and comprehensive functionality of the system.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to modernizing Waqf administration and ensuring a seamless rollout of the portal across the country. Continuous capacity-building and digital skill enhancement programs are being planned to support Waqf Board personnel in adapting to the new system.

This initiative marks a milestone in the digital governance of Waqf properties, aligning with the Government of India’s broader vision of leveraging technology for good governance and community welfare.
