Two Women Officers Create History as INSV Tarini Returns to Goa after Globe Circumnavigation

Navika Sagar Parikrama-II hailed as a Golden Chapter in India’s Maritime Legacy

Goa | In a landmark moment that reaffirms India’s growing maritime prowess and commitment to gender equality in the armed forces, Lieutenant Commander Dilna K and Lieutenant Commander Roopa A created history as they sailed back to Goa onboard the INSV Tarini, successfully completing their circumnavigation of the globe.

The Flag-in Ceremony was held at Mole Jetty, Goa, in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, who lauded the courage, resilience, and determination of the two naval officers. Covering a staggering 25,600 nautical miles over a span of 238 days, this all-women crew undertook a journey that exemplifies the spirit of Nari Shakti — courageous hearts conquering boundless seas.

The duo braved extreme weather, navigated through challenging maritime routes, and crossed multiple oceans, making this mission not only a test of endurance and skill but also a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.

Named Navika Sagar Parikrama-II, this mission marks the second global circumnavigation by Indian women naval officers, etching itself as a golden chapter in India’s contemporary maritime history. The success of the mission is a testimony to the Indian Navy’s progressive vision and commitment to empowering women in all domains.
