Top-Performing Gramin Dak Sevaks Felicitated by Union Minister for Exemplary Service in FY 2024–25
New Delhi: In a heartening tribute to the unsung heroes of rural postal services, the Department of Posts on Friday honored 33 top-performing Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) from across the country for their outstanding service during the financial year 2024–25. The event was graced by the Union Minister of Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who personally interacted with the awardees in New Delhi.
Representing all 23 Postal Circles of India, the selected GDS participants exemplified the vital role played by grassroots postal workers in bridging distances and building trust across the vast rural landscape of India.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Scindia praised the GDS workforce as the backbone of India Post’s rural operations. “The GDS is not only a service provider but a trusted companion in every village, someone who knows each family personally and shares an emotional bond with the entire community,” he remarked.
Drawing a heartfelt analogy, the Minister compared the role of GDS to that of a village watchman, emphasizing their dual role as guardians of communication and trusted members of the community. “Through my Gramin Dak Sevaks, the spirit of ‘Dak Sewa, Jan Sewa’ is being awakened,” he said, lauding their role in nation-building as unmatched and deeply inspiring.
The event provided an open platform for the GDS participants to share their field experiences, touching stories, and practical suggestions to further enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. Their insights highlighted the transformative role India Post plays in rural development and financial inclusion.
Senior officers from the Department of Posts were also present at the event, marking a strong gesture of recognition and solidarity with the rural workforce that keeps India’s communication network thriving at the grassroots.
