Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann Assumes Charge as Senior Air Staff Officer, Western Air Command
New Delhi : Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, AVSM, VM, today assumed charge as the Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
An alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Mann was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot on 16 December 1989. With an impressive flying experience of over 3,000 hours on a variety of fighter aircraft, he is a qualified Pilot Attack Instructor. His distinguished operational career includes commanding a frontline fighter squadron, serving as Chief Operations Officer of a forward air base, and leading a premier fighter station as Air Officer Commanding.
Air Marshal Mann has held several key appointments at both Air Headquarters and Command Headquarters. He has played a vital role in planning and executing joint military training exercises with international forces, notably with the Republic of Singapore Air Force in 2017 and the United States Air Force in 2018.
He has previously served as Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration and Air Defence Commander of Central Air Command. An alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the Royal College of Defence Studies, London, he brings a wealth of strategic expertise and leadership to his new role.
Before this appointment, Air Marshal Mann was serving as Director General (Weapon Systems) at Air Headquarters. In recognition of his exceptional service to the nation, he has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vayu Sena Medal (VM) by the President of India.
With his vast experience and leadership acumen, Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann is expected to significantly contribute to the operational preparedness and strategic objectives of the Western Air Command.
