ST. SAVIO SC Lifts Calangute Panchayat Cup with 5-Goal Triumph Over Saligao Sporting”
Calangute, – In a thrilling match, St. Savio Sports Club Calangute emerged victorious in the Calangute Panchayat Cup final, defeating Saligao Sporting Calangute with a dominant 5-goal margin. The final score was St. Savio Sports Club Calangute 5, Saligao Sporting 0.
The match saw St. Savio Sports Club Calangute’s impressive performance, with their team working cohesively to secure the win. Dominic Fernandes scored the first goal in the first half, capitalizing on a well-executed through ball to give St. Savio an early lead. Later in the first half, Faisal D’Souza scored a spot kick, doubling St. Savio’s lead.
In the second half, St. Savio continued to dominate possession, with Jovito Fernandes scoring a spot kick to further extend their lead. Faisal D’Souza then scored another goal, showcasing his clinical finishing and speed. Richard Cardozo sealed the win with a stunning strike, capitalizing on a defensive error by Saligao Sporting.
The team’s strategy and skill paid off, as they dominated the game from start to finish, employing a high-pressing game that left Saligao Sporting struggling to create scoring opportunities.
The grand finale was attended by notable guests, including MLA Calangute Constituency Michael Lobo, PI Brandon D’Souza, Fr. Pedro D’Costa, Pujari of Shree Shantadurga Saunsthan Calangute, Ramchandra Mone, ex-player from Calangute, Anthony D’Souza, Secretary of Calangute Association, Ryan Mascarenhas, and former President of Calangute Association Alirio Lobo president of Saint savio Sports club John Fernandes, and former players of calangute among others.
The Village Panchayat Calangute was represented by Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira and Ward Members Sapnesh M. Vaingankar and Paulo Mathias D’Souza,savio Gonsalves among others. Calangute MLA Michael Lobo presented the Man of the Match award to Faisal of St. Savio.

At the end of the match, individual awards were presented to outstanding players. Gaurish of St. Savio was adjudged the Best Defender, while Sachin Satelkar of Saligao Sporting was named the Best Forward. Philip of St. Savio excelled between the posts, earning him the Best Goalkeeper award. Jovito of St. Savio was recognized as the Best Half Player. Additionally, Sanjay of St. Savio was declared the Best Player of the Tournament.
