CM Pramod Sawant Reviews Forest Rights Claims; Sets Timeline for Resolution

Porvorim : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting at Mantralaya, Porvorim, to review the progress of Forest Rights Claims under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, senior Secretaries, Collectors of North and South Goa, Director of Tribal Welfare, officials from the Forest Department, DCF, DSLR, Nodal Officers, and other stakeholders.

Key discussions and directives included:

Expedited Processing of Claims: CM Sawant assessed the current status of claims in both districts and directed Block Development Officers (BDOs) to accelerate the preparation of Forest Rights Committee (FRC) claim files.

Resolution Camps on June 14: Special camps will be conducted in Canacona, Quepem, Sanguem, Ponda, and Sattari to address pending Gram Sabha cases.

Special Gram Sabha & SDLC Meetings: A dedicated Gram Sabha for Forest Rights Claims will be held on June 21, while Sub-Divisional Level Committee (SDLC) meetings are scheduled for June 19 to address claim pendency.

Sanad Distribution from June 9: Distribution of Sanads will commence on June 9 during the ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi’ program. A total of 2,309 Sanads are ready for distribution, with a target to resolve 10,000 claims by December 19, 2025.

CM Sawant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving Forest Rights Claims through coordinated and time-bound efforts involving all relevant departments.
