CM Pramod Sawant Chairs High-Level Meeting on TB Mukta Bharat Abhiyan
Panaji : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a crucial meeting on the “TB Mukta Bharat Abhiyan” today, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to eliminating tuberculosis from Goa. The meeting was attended by Health Minister Shri Vishwajit Rane, Secretary of Health, Director of Health Services, the State TB Officer, senior doctors, and key stakeholders from the health department.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister approved the procurement of Hand-Held X-Ray machines for TB screening through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. This strategic move aims to strengthen early detection and diagnosis, especially in remote and rural areas.
Key discussions focused on initiating TB screening at the Panchayat level, finalizing the parameters to officially declare Goa a “TB Mukta” (TB-free) state, and planning intensive awareness and monitoring campaigns. Emphasis was laid on timely identification of patients, providing nutritional support, and implementing community-driven outreach programs.
Dr. Sawant stressed the importance of sustained, coordinated efforts and the continuous strengthening of healthcare infrastructure to achieve the goal of a TB-free Goa. He reiterated the state’s resolve to work in line with the national TB elimination mission and ensure the well-being of every Goan.
