Face Authentication Sees Strong Growth with Over 15.49 Crore Transactions in May

New Delhi : The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recorded an impressive 211 crore Aadhaar-based authentication transactions in May 2025, reaffirming Aadhaar’s critical role in powering India’s digital economy and welfare service delivery. With this, the cumulative authentication transactions since inception have now crossed a staggering 15,223 crore.

This latest monthly figure marks an increase not only over April 2025 but also over May 2024, when 201.76 crore authentication transactions were logged. The consistent upward trend reflects the growing reliance on Aadhaar authentication for accessing public services and private sector offerings.

Catalyst for Digital Transformation and Welfare Delivery

Aadhaar-based authentication continues to act as a crucial enabler for efficient and transparent delivery of welfare schemes, subsidies, and essential services. The rising number of transactions highlights the deepening digital integration across sectors and the trust placed by citizens and institutions in Aadhaar’s robust framework.

Face Authentication Gains Momentum
UIDAI’s advanced AI/ML-powered Face Authentication solution saw over 15.49 crore transactions in May alone, indicating rapid adoption of this convenient modality. More than 100 organizations—including government departments, banks, telecom service providers, and oil marketing companies—are currently leveraging face authentication to ensure seamless and secure delivery of services.

E-KYC Transactions Enhance Ease of Doing Business

In addition, over 37 crore e-KYC transactions were recorded in May, further underlining Aadhaar’s role in simplifying identity verification and improving customer onboarding processes in banking, NBFCs, and other regulated sectors. Aadhaar e-KYC continues to be a vital tool for enhancing both the customer experience and regulatory compliance.

As India marches forward in its digital journey, Aadhaar remains at the core of inclusive governance, bridging the gap between technology and citizen-centric service delivery.
