TAXI AGGREGATOR ISSUE TO BE RESOLVED IN DISCUSSION WITH LOCAL TAXI OWNERS: CM DR. PRAMOD SAWANT
Panaji : In a significant move aimed at resolving ongoing tensions in the state’s transport sector, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has assured that the contentious issue surrounding taxi aggregators in Goa will be settled through discussions with local taxi owners.
The announcement brings a sense of relief to the traditional taxi community, which has long voiced concerns over the growing presence and operations of app-based taxi aggregators in the state. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the interests of all stakeholders are protected while also maintaining a balanced and sustainable transportation ecosystem.
“We are committed to finding a solution that works for everyone,” stated Dr. Sawant. “Constructive dialogue with both local taxi operators and aggregators is the way forward for resolving the issue amicably.”
The ongoing dispute has seen local taxi operators raising strong objections over the impact of aggregators on their livelihoods, citing unfair competition and regulatory imbalances. The government’s approach to open dialogue is being welcomed as a constructive step toward easing tensions and building consensus.
Officials indicate that the discussions will focus on creating a fair operational framework that accommodates both traditional taxi services and modern aggregator platforms, while safeguarding the income of Goan taxi operators.
This development is expected to pave the way for a more inclusive and sustainable transport policy, addressing both the economic concerns of taxi drivers and the mobility needs of residents and to in Goa.
