Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa Initiates Major Drainage Project to Resolve Long-Standing Flooding Issues
Quepem : In a significant step towards improving civic infrastructure in the Quepem Municipal area, the construction of a new drainage system from Bhise Pharmacy to the Quepem Police Station has officially commenced. The project is being undertaken under the MLA Local Area Development (LAD) Scheme.
MLA Altone D’Costa, known for his commitment to the welfare of Quepemkars, has spearheaded this much-needed initiative aimed at resolving the persistent waterlogging and flooding issues that have plagued the Quepem market area for the past 35 years.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA D’Costa emphasized that his only priority is the well-being of the people. “This drainage project is not about politics or credit. It’s about serving the people of Quepem with sincerity and dedication,” he said.
He further urged all stakeholders to refrain from politicizing development work, stating, “There should be no political interference when it comes to solving public issues. Let us work together for the betterment of Quepemkars.”
The project marks a crucial milestone in addressing one of Quepem’s most neglected civic issues and is expected to bring long-term relief to residents and businesses frequently affected by seasonal flooding.
