CM Pramod Sawant Chairs Strategic Meeting to Boost Goa’s Agricultural Exports with APEDA & Jaivik Bharat
Panaji : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting at Mantralaya focused on unlocking Goa’s agricultural export potential. The meeting brought together key stakeholders including Agriculture Minister Shri Ravi S. Naik, MLAs Shri Premendra Shet and Smt. Deviya Rane, Chief Secretary, Director of Agriculture, APEDA Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev, Secretary Agriculture Shri Arun Kumar, and other senior officials and experts.
The discussion was centered on creating strategic pathways to elevate Goa’s position in the global agricultural market.
Key highlights of the meeting included:
APEDA’s pivotal role in promoting exports across 18 major agricultural product categories
₹27.90 billion (US$ 27.90 Bn) worth of agricultural exports projected for FY 2024–25
Updates on organic certification under NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production) and its upcoming revisions to benefit Goan farmers
Identification of Goa’s top agricultural products with high export potential for the current fiscal year
Review of the current status and growth of organic farming and certification in the state
Planning the next steps to enhance organic exports, including participation in major upcoming export-focused events
The Chief Minister emphasized that Goa, recognized as a naturally organic state, is poised to make significant contributions to India’s agricultural export ambitions. He also announced plans to establish a dedicated Cashew Board to further support and promote Goan agriculture, especially one of its most iconic crops.
“Together, we are paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future for Goa’s farmers and exporters,” CM Sawant stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transforming Goa into a model organic export hub.
