Doorstep Governance Initiative Accelerates Tribal Land Claims in Ponda
Ponda : In a significant boost to the resolution of tribal land claims, local authorities under the State government’s Project Adhikar initiative have launched a doorstep governance drive, bringing administrative services directly to tribal hamlets across the Ponda jurisdiction.
The initiative, praised by panchayat representatives as “bringing the office to the doorstep,” has received an overwhelmingly positive response from tribal residents. Several beneficiaries expressed deep relief as their long-pending files, some stuck for years, finally began progressing through the system.
Revenue officials, along with SDLC (Sub-Divisional Level Committee) representatives, held camps in remote areas to facilitate claim processing and document verification. As part of the process, claimants have now been given a 15-day window to submit any pending documents necessary to resolve the remaining cases.
This timely intervention is expected to enable the SDLC to forward all eligible cases from the Ponda region to the District Level Committee (DLC) well ahead of the State government’s deadline for Project Adhikar, set for December 2025.
Officials affirmed that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that no genuine tribal claim is left unresolved and that land rights are secured in a transparent and time-bound manner.
