CM Pramod Sawant Inaugurates Workshop on Mineral Exploration in Goa
Porvorim : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated a workshop titled “Mineral Exploration in Goa: Challenges, Opportunities & the Way Forward” at Kautilya Lekha Bhavan, Porvorim. The event was organized by the Directorate of Mines & Geology, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines (NMET), Geological Survey of India (GSI), and Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL).
In his address, CM Sawant emphasized the government’s firm commitment to ease of doing business, sustainable resource management, and fostering knowledge-driven growth through collaboration with academic and research institutions.
“This workshop marks an important step toward scientific mineral exploration and responsible mining practices in Goa. We are focusing on the exploration of critical and rare earth minerals, while ensuring environmental protection and active community engagement,” said the Chief Minister.
He further highlighted Goa’s progressive initiatives such as E-Auctioning and the Dump Policy, which aim to bring transparency and efficiency to the state’s mining sector. The CM reiterated that Goa is ushering in a new era of sustainable and transparent mining through science-based approaches and inclusive policy frameworks.
The workshop brought together experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the future roadmap for mineral exploration in Goa.
