IRGC Claims Missile Strikes on Mossad Sites in Tel Aviv as Iran-Israel Conflict Escalates
Tel Aviv: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has claimed responsibility for successful ballistic missile strikes targeting Israeli intelligence infrastructure, including a Mossad operational center in Tel Aviv, as hostilities between Iran and Israel entered their fifth consecutive day.
According to the IRGC, the strikes part of “Operation True Promise 3” targeted two key Israeli intelligence facilities with “precise and painful blows.” Explosions were confirmed in Herzliya, Ramat HaSharon, and Ra’anana, with Israeli media reporting that at least five missiles hit the greater Tel Aviv region. Satellite images and local reports point to significant damage to a major command or logistics facility.
The IRGC’s Aerospace Force announced the launch of a ninth wave of combined drone and missile attacks, declaring that such operations would continue through the night. It warned that “all Israeli cities and facilities” are now considered legitimate military targets.
Israel Retaliates with Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Infrastructure
In a swift and forceful response, Israel escalated airstrikes on Iranian soil, with its military targeting nuclear and strategic military facilities around Tehran. The Israeli military claimed near-destruction of ten high-priority nuclear-related sites, particularly focusing on the Fordow uranium enrichment facility.
However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has so far confirmed damage only to the Natanz nuclear site, stating that satellite imagery shows no immediate damage at Fordow or Esfahan facilities following the most recent Israeli assaults.
Diplomatic Breakdown and Civilian Exodus
Tensions peaked following Israel’s rejection of Iranian diplomatic overtures on Monday night aimed at halting the conflict. In the aftermath, the IRGC issued evacuation warnings to Israeli-held territories and proceeded with further missile launches.
Conversely, Israeli and U.S. authorities have urged over 330,000 residents in central Tehran to evacuate, citing threats of intensified aerial assaults. According to Israeli defense sources, about one-third of Iran’s ballistic missile stockpile and launch systems have been destroyed, significantly crippling Tehran’s retaliatory capabilities.
Despite firing over 370 missiles and numerous drones, Iran’s effectiveness has been limited, with the majority intercepted by Israel’s advanced air defense systems.
U.S. Reinforces Military Presence, Talks Collapse
Amid rising fears of a regional war, the United States has deployed the USS Nimitz carrier strike group and additional air support assets to the Middle East. Back-channel nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman, have collapsed after Iran refused to engage in talks while under attack.
President Donald Trump reiterated his demand that Iran immediately halt its nuclear program, stating that compliance could bring an end to hostilities. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that the current strikes have “significantly delayed Iran’s nuclear ambitions,” though he added that “more targets remain.”
Regional and Global Repercussions
The current escalation marks the most direct and destructive confrontation between Iran and Israel since 1979, raising alarms across global capitals. With warnings of further strikes on both sides, mass evacuations are underway in Tehran, while expatriate communities are being relocated by their respective governments.
Defense analysts warn that continued strikes could draw in proxy forces and regional actors, triggering a broader conflict in the Middle East.
