GOVERNOR VISITS SALCETE TALUKA UNDER “KHUSHAL KALYAN YATRA”
Panaji : In a continued effort to connect with the people of Goa, His Excellency Governor of Goa, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, undertook the fourth phase of the “Khushal Kalyan Yatra” in South Goa today. Accompanied by the First Lady of Goa, Smt. Rita Sreedharan Pillai, the Governor visited several key locations in Salcete taluka, including Margao, Assolna, Benaulim, Varca, and Fatorda.
The Yatra commenced at the historic Lohia Maidan in Margao, where the Governor was warmly welcomed by South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes, Leader of the Opposition Shri Yuri Alemao, MLA Shri Digambar Kamat, President of 18th June Kranti Samiti Shri Avinash Shirodkar, and other committee members. The Governor paid floral tributes at the memorial in honour of Goa’s freedom fighters. South Goa Collector Ms. Egna Cletus, IAS, was also present.
Continuing his tour, the Governor visited the Jain Mandir in Margao and received blessings from the deity. He was welcomed and felicitated by Shri Shantilal Mehta, President of the Jain Mandir.
In Assolna, the Governor paid homage at the residence of the late Dr. Julio Menezes and was received by MLA Shri Cruz Silva and Shri Ravi Menezes. This was followed by a visit to the ethnographic museum complex in Benaulim Goa Chitra, Goa Chakra, and Goa Cruti where he was welcomed by MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas and founder Shri Victor Hugo Gomes.
At Varca Church, the Governor and the First Lady were greeted by Parish Priest Fr. Luis Alvares, with Capt. Venzy Viegas also in attendance. The Governor offered prayers for the well-being of all Goans.
In Margao, the Governor visited Shree Vitthal Rakhumai Temple and later offered prayers at the revered Shree Damodar Temple in Fatorda. The visit concluded at Bilal Masjid, Chandrawado, Fatorda. MLA Shri Vijai Sardessai joined the Governor during the visit.
Through the “Khushal Kalyan Yatra,” launched recently, Governor Pillai aims to visit diverse places of worship across Goa to seek divine blessings for the peace, happiness, and holistic welfare of the people of Goa and the nation.
The Governor was accompanied by Shri Sanjeev Gauns Desai, Secretary to the Governor; Shri R. Mihir Vardhan, IAS (Retd.), Special Officer to Governor; noted historian Shri Sanjeev Sardesai; Shri A. Kalyana Harsha, Comptroller of the Governor’s Household, and other dignitaries.
