FASTag-Based Annual Passes Announced for Non-Commercial Vehicles
The central government has introduced FASTag-based Annual Passes for non-commercial vehicles, effective from August 15, 2025. Announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the ₹3,000 pass allows up to 200 trips or one-year validity, whichever comes first.
Exclusively for private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans, the move aims to simplify toll payments, reduce congestion, and address issues at toll plazas within a 60-km radius. Activation and renewal will be available via the Rajmarg Yatra App and NHAI/MoRTH websites.
This initiative complements the upcoming ANPR-FASTag barrier-less tolling system, which uses automatic number plate recognition and RFID tech to enable seamless toll collection. Non-compliance may attract penalties and FASTag suspension.
