Club World Cup: Bounou’s Heroics Earn Al Hilal 1-1 Draw Against Real Madrid

Yassine Bounou saved a stoppage-time penalty from Federico Valverde to help Al Hilal secure a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in their Club World Cup Group H opener in Miami.
Real Madrid took the lead in the 34th minute with Gonzalo Garcia finishing a Rodrygo assist. Al Hilal equalized in the 41st minute through a Ruben Neves penalty after Raul Asencio fouled Marcos Leonardo in the box.
Bounou was the standout performer, denying Garcia’s close-range header and Valverde’s last-minute penalty. Arda Guler also hit the crossbar early in the second half. Al Hilal’s earlier goal by Renan Lodi in the 19th minute was ruled out for offside.
