Unauthorized Tourist Service Provider Apprehended at Baga Beach
Department of Tourism Takes Swift Action to Uphold Regulated Tourism Standards

Calangute : In a firm move to curb unauthorized tourism activities, the Department of Tourism, Goa, in coordination with the Tourist Police Unit, apprehended an individual for illegally offering services to tourists at Baga Beach.
The action was taken during a routine patrol when a Tourism Warden, along with officials from the Tourist Police Unit, spotted a man approaching tourists and offering services without valid authorization. Upon inquiry, the individual identified himself as Meghnath Das, 25, a resident of Laxman Bar and Restaurant, Baga Bardez.
Further verification revealed that Das was operating in violation of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982, as he did not hold the required permissions from the competent authority. He has since been produced before the Department of Tourism for further proceedings under Section 26 of the Act.
The Department of Tourism reiterated its commitment to promoting responsible and regulated tourism across the state, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of visitors while acting decisively against violations of tourism-related laws.
