Visakhapatnam : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive gathering at the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, urged the global community to embrace inner peace as a global policy and make yoga a collective international responsibility.

Speaking along the picturesque Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships enhancing the visual grandeur, the Prime Minister said, “Let this International Yoga Day mark the beginning of Yoga for Humanity. Let this be the day when inner peace becomes a global policy, where yoga is embraced not just as a personal practice but as a powerful tool for global partnership and unity.”

Highlighting yoga’s universal relevance, PM Modi added, “Come, let us all together make yoga a mass movement a movement that takes the world towards peace, health, and harmony. Let every person begin their day with yoga, every society connect through it, and let ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ become a global resolution.”

The event witnessed participation from lakhs of yoga enthusiasts, residents, students, and dignitaries from Andhra Pradesh. PM Modi praised the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh government, especially Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, calling their leadership “inspiring” and the initiative “commendable.”

“Yoga is for everyone beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or physical ability. It is a universal gift that unites humanity in health, harmony, and consciousness,” he stated.

Recalling India’s 2014 proposal to the United Nations to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day which received swift support from over 170 countries PM Modi noted that yoga has since become a global symbol of peace, balance, and cooperation.

He further emphasized yoga’s transformative power: “Yoga teaches us that we are not isolated individuals we are an integral part of nature. Initially, it helps improve our health and wellness, but gradually it expands our awareness to include our environment, society, and the planet.”

As this year’s theme “Yoga for Self and Society” echoed across the nation, the celebrations stood as a testament to India’s continued leadership in promoting holistic well-being, environmental consciousness, and global unity through the ancient practice of yoga.
