Goa Assembly Speaker Explores Rural Development Model at MGIRI, Wardha
Wardha : Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar recently visited the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialisation (MGIRI) in Wardha to gain insights into its pioneering work in rural development and sustainable employment generation.
MGIRI’s initiatives, aimed at empowering rural communities through innovation, skill development, and the promotion of village industries, were highly appreciated by the Speaker. The visit was part of a broader effort to explore the possibility of replicating such successful models in Goa to strengthen village-based economies.
Speaker Tawadkar was accompanied by Rajendra Borkar, Santosh Lolyekar, and a delegation from Canacona including Municipal Councillors Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Simon Rebelo, Laxman Pagi, and Gandesh Madgaonkar, along with Shristhal Panch Ganesh Gaonkar and Engineer Vinay Tupaki. Representatives Mr. Vinay Rohini and Mr. Piyush Jain from Jabalpur also participated in the discussions.
Dr. Ashutosh Murkute, Director of MGIRI, and Dr. Shashi Prakash Mishra, Principal Scientific Officer, provided detailed presentations on the institute’s ongoing projects and welcomed the delegation with warm hospitality.
The interaction focused on fostering collaborative efforts between Goa and MGIRI to promote rural entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
“This visit reinforces our commitment to building a self-reliant and empowered rural Goa by integrating innovative and sustainable industrial practices,” said Speaker Tawadkar.
