Operation Sindhu: IAF Evacuates 224 More Indians from Israel, Total Reaches 818

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force on Wednesday successfully evacuated 224 more Indian nationals from Israel under Operation Sindhu, taking the total number repatriated to 818. Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje received the evacuees at New Delhi airport.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared the update on social media, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens amid the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

The IAF deployed its C-17 aircraft for the operation, aiding in the safe return of Indian citizens and those from friendly nations such as Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Evacuations began on June 23 via Jordan, with the first flight carrying 161 citizens landing in New Delhi the next morning. A second flight on Tuesday brought back 286 more from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Parallel evacuation efforts from Iran have also been underway, with 2,858 Indian nationals brought home so far from Tehran and other conflict-affected regions.
