India Slams Pakistan at UNSC, Cites Cross-Border Terrorism and Child Rights Violations

India strongly rejected Pakistan’s “nefarious agenda” at the UN Security Council (UNSC) during an open debate on Children and Armed Conflict (CAC), accusing Islamabad of misusing the platform to deflect from its own human rights abuses and state-sponsored terrorism.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, delivered a scathing rebuttal, calling out Pakistan for targeting India while ignoring atrocities committed against children within its own borders. Citing the UN Secretary-General’s CAC report, Harish highlighted violations such as attacks on girls’ schools and health workers, and the killing of Afghan children due to Pakistani cross-border shelling.

The envoy condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir that killed 26 Indian tourists, blaming Pakistani or Pakistan-trained terrorists. Referring to India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor on May 7, he said nine terrorist infrastructure sites were targeted in a proportionate manner.

He criticized Pakistan for giving state funerals to terrorists, showcasing its continued support for terror. Harish also condemned recent Pakistani shelling of Indian villages, calling Pakistan’s stance “grossly hypocritical.”

He concluded by reaffirming that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India.
