Trump Hints at Major US-India Trade Deal Following China Pact
Washington : Former US President Donald Trump has hinted at a “very big” trade deal with India following a recently signed agreement with China. Speaking at the Big Beautiful Bill event, Trump said, “We just signed with China yesterday. We have one coming up, maybe with India very big one. Where we’re going to open up India.”
Though he did not provide specific details, Trump emphasized that not all countries will receive deals, stating, “Some we’re just going to send a letter, say thank you very much. You are to pay 25, 35, 45 per cent.”
Trump’s remarks come days after he announced a new deal with China under the Geneva framework, which includes eased export restrictions and Chinese supply commitments for rare earth elements.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick recently said a US-India trade deal was nearing finalization. Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also confirmed ongoing negotiations, calling the proposed agreement “fair and equitable” and highlighting strong ties between the two nations and their leaders.
