Tigress and Four Cubs Found Dead in Karnataka’s MM Hills; Probe Ordered
Male Mahadeshwara Hills, Karnataka : In a tragic incident that has shocked wildlife conservationists and locals alike, a tigress and her four cubs were found dead in the Male Mahadeshwara Hills (MM Hills) region on Thursday.
Confirming the development, Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre expressed deep sorrow over the incident, terming the deaths as “unnatural” and suspected to be the result of poisoning.
He has ordered a high-level investigation into the matter, which will be led by a team under the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF). “Protecting our wildlife is a priority. Strict action will be taken against those responsible,” the minister stated.
Forest officials have cordoned off the area and collected samples for forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary reports suggest signs of poisoning, but further examination is underway.
The MM Hills region, which forms part of a protected forest zone, is home to a significant population of tigers and other wildlife. This incident has raised serious concerns about poaching and human-wildlife conflict in the region.
More details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
