Indian Defence Attaché’s Remarks on Operation Sindoor Stir Controversy; Embassy Issues Clarification

Jakarta: Captain Shiv Kumar, the Defence Attaché to the Indian Embassy in Indonesia, has sparked a controversy with his comments on India’s aircraft losses during Operation Sindoor. Speaking at a defence forum, Captain Kumar stated he does not agree with claims that India lost “so many aircraft,” but acknowledged that “some aircraft” were indeed lost. He attributed the losses to “political leadership’s constraint to not attack Pakistani military establishments.”

Following media reports on his remarks, the Indian Embassy in Jakarta issued a clarification, stating that Captain Kumar’s comments were “quoted out of context.” The embassy emphasized that his statements do not reflect the official position of the Government of India and reaffirmed the armed forces’ professionalism and commitment under all operational constraints.
