The 2023 World Junior Championships bronze medallist dominated the match, wrapping it up in just 47 minutes.
Shetty, seeded fourth, had an impressive run, including a semifinal win over World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) hailed it as a “breakthrough triumph” on X.
In women’s singles, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma stunned the badminton world with a runner-up finish, losing a hard-fought final to 34-year-old Beiwen Zhang 11-21, 21-16, 10-21.
