Centre Launches WAVEX Startup Challenge 2025 for Real-Time Multilingual AI Solutions
The Centre has launched the WAVEX Startup Challenge 2025, inviting startups nationwide to develop AI-based real-time multilingual translation solutions. Titled ‘BhashaSetu – Real-Time Language Tech for Bharat’, the challenge is part of the flagship WaveX Accelerator programme under the Ministry’s WAVES initiative.
The challenge aims to promote inclusive communication technologies by encouraging innovations in real-time translation, transliteration, and voice localisation across at least 12 major Indian languages. Notably, there are no minimum eligibility criteria, allowing startups at any development stage to participate.
Startups are encouraged to build scalable, affordable solutions using open-source or low-cost AI models, though proprietary models will also be considered if they ensure affordability.
The winning team will receive incubation support, including mentorship, workspace, and development assistance, until the solution is fully realised. Registrations opened on June 30 and will close on July 22.
The initiative follows the successful WAVES Summit in Mumbai this May, where 30+ startups pitched ideas.
