Widows with Children Below 21 to Receive ₹4,000 Monthly Aid: CM Sawant
Porvorim : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, announced a major relief measure for widows in the state. Under the new provision, widows with children below the age of 21 will now be eligible to receive a total monthly aid of ₹4,000, by availing benefits under both the Grah Aadhar Scheme and the Widow Pension Scheme.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at Mantralaya, Porvorim, where the Chief Minister briefed the media on the government’s continued efforts to provide social security and financial support to vulnerable sections of society.
Dr. Sawant stated that this decision aims to empower single mothers and ensure better welfare for their dependent children. The scheme will be implemented with immediate effect, and beneficiaries are urged to contact the Department of Social Welfare for application procedures and further guidance.
