15 kg Plastic Removed from Cow’s Stomach in Life-saving Surgery at Valpoi
Valpoi : In a remarkable act of compassion and veterinary expertise, a cow rescued from the Haldankar House ward area under Valpoi Municipal jurisdiction ten days ago underwent a successful surgery today. The operation was carried out by Dr. Siddesh Pednekar, in-charge of the Valpoi Veterinary Dispensary, with support from the team at Jai Shriram Gosavardhan Kendra.
The surgical procedure, aimed at removing foreign material from the cow’s stomach, resulted in the extraction of approximately 15 kilograms of plastic waste a stark reminder of the hazards of plastic pollution.
The surgery was jointly performed by Dr. Raghunath Dhuri of Jai Shriram Gosavardhan Kendra, with valuable assistance from veterinary assistants Amay Kurttikar and Laukik Bibavnekar. The cow had been rescued and cared for by the Jai Shriram Gaushala in Valpoi after being found in a distressed state.
Animal welfare activists have praised the team for their swift response and expert handling of the situation, while also calling for greater awareness on responsible waste disposal to prevent such incidents in the future.
