Goa Congress Chief Backs AITUC Protest, Slams BJP for Anti-Worker Policies
Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar on Tuesday extended full support to the nationwide protest organised by the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, demanding justice, fair wages, and dignity for India’s working class.
Terming the protest a powerful outcry from India’s backbone its workers Patkar accused the BJP governments at the Centre and in Goa of betraying labourers through exploitative, anti-worker policies.
He slammed the condition of Kadamba Transport Corporation, alleging delayed salaries, overburdened staff, and growing contractualisation. “KTC is being deliberately weakened to benefit private transporters,” he said.
Highlighting the neglect of Anganwadi workers, mining-dependent families, and daily wage staff in PWD and Forest departments, Patkar said the BJP had failed to deliver on promises of fair pay, regularisation, or job security.
“Congress has always stood by the working class from labour welfare laws to union rights,” he stated, warning the BJP of street-level and electoral resistance if it continues to ignore worker grievances.
Patkar reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to protecting the dignity and livelihood of India’s working population.
