Key Cabinet Decisions: Land Approved for Ambedkar Bhavan, Department Renamed as ‘Inland Waterways’
In a significant Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, several important decisions were taken that are expected to bring positive changes in the social and administrative sectors.
The Chief Minister informed in a press conference that the Cabinet has approved the transfer of 2,400 square meters of land in Porvorim for the construction of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan. This Bhavan will serve as a center for cultural, social, and educational activities for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Facilities will also be developed at this location to promote the ideas and work of Dr. Ambedkar. The decision fulfills a long-standing demand of the Dalit community in Goa.
In another key decision, the Cabinet has approved renaming the ‘River Navigation Department’ to the ‘Inland Waterways Department’. According to the Chief Minister, the purpose of this renaming is to clearly define the department’s scope of work and emphasize the development of inland waterways. This move is aimed at improving transport infrastructure by better utilizing the state’s water routes and will help expand the department’s vision and responsibilities.
Both decisions align with the government’s vision of “Development for All, Justice for All” and are expected to boost social justice and infrastructural development.
