MP Sadanand Tanavade Inaugurates ‘VARTALAP’ Workshop on Ocean Awareness for Media
Old Goa: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade inaugurated a one-day media workshop titled ‘VARTALAP’ on the theme “Know the Ocean Around Us” at Old Goa. The workshop was organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Goa, under the aegis of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.
The event aimed at enhancing awareness among media professionals about India’s maritime ecosystem and scientific developments related to ocean research.
Eminent scientists from CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Dona Paula, including Dr. Manguesh Gawas, Chief Scientist, and Dr. Pawan Dewangan, Senior Principal Scientist, delivered insightful presentations.
Shri Nana Meshram, Director, PIB Goa, and Shri Arun Kumar, Deputy Commandant, Indian Coast Guard, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the strategic importance of oceans for national security and sustainability.
The workshop witnessed active participation from journalists, students, and communication professionals from across Goa.
