Two Held for Impersonation During CSIR-NIO Recruitment Exam in Dona Paula

Panaji : In a serious case of examination malpractice, the Panaji Town Police have arrested two individuals from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, for impersonation during a recruitment examination conducted by CSIR-NIO at Dona Paula.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar (26) and Prashant Kumar (25). Both were produced before the Panaji court on Wednesday and have been remanded to three days of police custody for further investigation and interrogation.

According to Investigating Officer Manjunath Naik of Panaji Town Police Station, the duo are close friends from Pratapgarh. Sunil Kumar was allegedly caught red-handed attempting to impersonate his friend Prashant Kumar the actual candidate during the national-level examination.

Sunil was found answering the exam in Prashant’s name, having affixed his own photograph on the admit card. Prashant himself was waiting outside the examination centre.

The impersonation came to light when Prakash Shukla, Controller of Administration for the CSIR-NIO exam, grew suspicious of Sunil’s responses during preliminary questioning. Upon biometric verification, a mismatch was detected, leading to immediate police intervention.

Both accused were subsequently detained and arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
