Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, CM Fadnavis Inaugurate IICT Mumbai Campus
Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Mumbai campus of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) on Friday. Located at the NFDC Films Division Complex on Pedder Road, the campus will begin academic sessions from September with an initial batch of 300 students. Equipped with media labs, post-production suites, and specialised XR, VFX, and animation facilities, the institute aims to revolutionise India’s AVGC-XR sector.
Vaishnaw announced a ₹400 crore allocation for IICT’s development and highlighted partnerships with global tech giants like Google, Meta, and Adobe for hands-on training. Fadnavis called the launch a transformative “movement,” positioning IICT as an academic and cultural landmark.
The institute will offer 17 specialised programs in integrated media, fostering industry-ready talent. The initiative reflects India’s growing focus on the creative digital economy. Also present were I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju and Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar.
