Porvorim’s Youth Embrace Farming Through Kisan Shakti Initiative
Porvorim : A new wave of agricultural enthusiasm is emerging in Porvorim as the youth actively take up farming, driven by the Kisan Shakti initiative. Spearheaded by Porvorim MLA Shri Rohan Khaunte, the movement reflects a shift in mindset among the younger generation, who are blending traditional practices with modern techniques.
Shri Khaunte, who has worked alongside Porvorim’s farmers for 17 years, highlighted his commitment to agriculture through consistent efforts from introducing advanced methods to providing infrastructure and even working hands-on in the fields.
“Today, we are seeing the results of those efforts,” he said. “Farming in Porvorim is evolving, with youth showing genuine interest, which ensures continuity and innovation.”
The Kisan Shakti programme has been instrumental in sustaining and empowering the local farming community, making agriculture a viable and attractive option for the next generation. The initiative stands as a model for rural rejuvenation rooted in community and innovation.
