Goa CM Pramod Sawant Responds to Key Issues in Legislative Assembly Session
Panaji : On the second day of the Tenth Session of the Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant addressed several critical questions raised by opposition MLAs, reaffirming the government’s commitment on key issues concerning Goans.
In a significant development aimed at increasing local representation in central government jobs, the Chief Minister announced that a Konkani language test has been made compulsory in the recruitment process for postal jobs, thereby promoting linguistic and regional inclusion.
On the contentious Mhadei river issue, Dr. Sawant reiterated the government’s unwavering resolve to protect Goa’s lifeline. “Goa will continue to pursue all legal avenues to safeguard Mhadei,” he assured the House, emphasizing the state’s firm stance against any compromise.
Responding to concerns regarding the Ganjem Dam, the Chief Minister stated that the government is actively working to address the water supply and infrastructure challenges, and necessary measures are being taken to resolve the issues at the earliest.
When Leader of Opposition Shri Yuri Alemao raised the issue of job reservations for children of freedom fighters, Dr. Sawant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to honoring the legacy of freedom fighters. He assured the House that while the welfare of freedom fighters and their families remains a top priority, the process will remain transparent and merit-based.
The session reflected the government’s intent to address public concerns while balancing heritage, infrastructure development, and regional employment opportunities.
