Govt Launches ₹10,900 Cr PM E-DRIVE Scheme to Boost EV Adoption
New Delhi : The Government of India has launched the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) scheme, with an outlay of ₹10,900 crore over two years from September 29, 2024. The scheme aims to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption by providing ₹3,679 crore in upfront subsidies for e-2Ws, e-3Ws, e-ambulances, and e-trucks.
Key allocations include ₹1,772 crore for 24.79 lakh e-2Ws, ₹907 crore for 3.15 lakh e-3Ws, and ₹500 crore each for e-ambulances and 5,643 e-trucks. Additionally, ₹4,391 crore has been allocated for 14,028 e-buses, ₹2,000 crore for EV charging infrastructure, and ₹780 crore for upgradation of testing agencies.
The scheme supports domestic manufacturing under the Phased Manufacturing Programme and is complemented by the PLI Auto and PLI ACC schemes. These have together generated ₹29,576 crore in investments and nearly 45,000 jobs.
