Jit Arolkar Demands Timely DSSS Benefits; Raises Office and Railway Issues
During the Assembly session, MLA Jit Arolkar demanded that benefits under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) be transferred to widows within one month. He pointed out that currently, families face serious hardships due to delays of 4–6 months.
Praising the Social Welfare Minister, Arolkar said, “You are strong because you carry the blessings of elders, youth, children, and persons with disabilities.”
He also highlighted the poor condition of the Social Welfare Office in Panjim, which lacks a lift and basic facilities, making it difficult for senior citizens to access services. He urged that the office be shifted to a more accessible location.
Additionally, Arolkar raised the issue of the Vasco–Vailankanni train being constantly overbooked, leaving Goan devotees without seats. In response, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assured the House that the matter would be taken up with railway authorities to find a suitable solution.
