Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra to Honour 1999 War Heroes
To mark the 26th anniversary of India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through its MY Bharat platform, will organise a Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra in Drass, Kargil on July 26. The 1.5-km padyatra from Himabass Public High School to Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbet will be led by Union Ministers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Sanjay Seth, with over 1,000 participants including youth, soldiers, and war veterans.
Post walk, tributes will be paid at the Kargil War Memorial. A highlight includes the felicitation of 26 women bikers from the Shakti Udgosh Foundation. A tree plantation drive under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” will also take place.
The padyatra is part of Viksit Bharat Padyatras, aligning with PM’s Jan Bhagidari vision. MY Bharat has been actively engaging youth through essay contests, Yuva Samvads, and awareness activities celebrating the bravery of Kargil heroes.
