PM Modi, President Muizzu Inaugurate New Defence Ministry Building in Maldives
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu jointly inaugurated the new Ministry of Defence (MoD) building in Male on Friday. Built with India’s financial assistance, the eleven-storey Dhoshimeyna Building symbolizes the deepening India-Maldives defence ties. PM Modi termed it a testament to strong bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed Maldives’ central role in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ and ‘Mahasagar Vision’. Discussions between the leaders focused on connectivity, defence, culture, climate change, and renewable energy. PM Modi also gifted two Aarogya Maitri Health Cubes portable hospitals with ICU and surgical facilities that can treat up to 200 people. The Prime Minister is on a two-day official visit to the Maldives at President Muizzu’s invitation.
